Overdraft Protection
A Safety Net for Your Share Draft (Checking) Account
It happens to the best of us. We forget to record an ATM withdraw, forget to note a debit transaction or an automatic bill pay deduction, or checks "clear" faster than anticipated.
During that time we write a draft (check) and for more money than we have in our Share Draft (Checking) Account.
Without Overdraft Protection, any draft (check) that is not covered by existing funds in your account, would be returned to the merchant for insufficient funds (NSF) - a costly and embarrassing procedure.
You can end all hassle and worry by adding Overdraft Protection.
Loan Application
Based on your credit worthiness, a line-of-credit called Handy Cash can be established to cover any overdrafts (up to your credit limit) on your Share Draft (Checking) Account.
Then, whenever your Share Draft (Checking) Account Balance falls below $0, you automatically draw on that account to cover the amount of the draft.
When your Handy Cash line-of-credit has been tapped, we send you a notice telling you that your credit line has been tapped to cover the shortage. If you access you account online, you will see when the overdraft protection was activated and your Handy Cash line-of-credit was used. You can conveniently transfer money to repay the amount through our website or you can pay by mail when you receive your bill.
There are no fees involved for keeping overdraft protection in place - you don't pay for it until you use it. And when you use it you will find the rates are quite low. And, the small fees involved are much less than the fees you would incur for insufficient funds.
